Among many brands of different weight-loss supplement products available on the market, most probably, you have come across these two elements quite often. Forskolin and Garcinia Cambogia both have been used in many weight-loss supplements quite recently. Hence, you are most probably wondering now if these ingredients are actually working and effective, and, which one that is most suitable for you. Well, you have come to the right place! Here, you can read the comparisons between Forskolin and Garcinia Cambogia. (Let us also take a look at this related article: Forskolin vs Green Coffee Bean)
Forskolin is a chemical substance derived from the Indian Coleus plant (Coleus forskohlii alias Plectranthus barbatus). It is a labdane diterpene that has been widely used in biochemistry studies and researches related to cell physiology to raise the levels of cyclic AMP (cAMP). Forskolin works by activating the adenylyl cyclase enzyme, which will increase the intracellular levels of cAMP.
Forskolin is theoretically beneficial to weight loss because by increasing the amount of cAMP, it indirectly enhances the activity of the human cells. Then, it causes the body to have increased metabolism rate, making your body breaks more fats and converts them into energy. However, while side effects are very minimal, Forskolin doesn’t have any reliable scientific support, as the supposed weight-loss effects are very marginal in the tests.
Garcinia Cambogia, which is also known as Garcinia gummi-gutta, Malabar tamarind, kudam puli, and brindleberry, is a type of fruits native to Indonesia. It has been used since a long time ago for cooking in various Southeast Asian countries. Quite recently, it has become popular as well as an ingredient in weight-loss supplements. The basis is that it contains the hydroxy citric acid (HCA), which is able to inhibit lipogenesis (the making of lipid in the body) as well as to suppress food intake.
However, it can have some side effects, mostly gastrointestinal symptoms, as its acidity may not be suitable for some people, especially the ones who have experienced gastrointestinal ulcers.
There is no such thing as a miracle pill. While supplements may or may not work, the keys are still the same: control your calorie intake, and do some workouts and exercises regularly. Nevertheless, between the two, we recommend you to choose Garcinia Cambogia as your weight-loss supplement because it has more direct effects towards fats. Forskolin is just not as significant. Make sure that your stomach can handle it, though – you may need to consult your doctor first.
