Beachbody vs Isagenix

Beachbody and Isagenix are both well-known companies that offer products and programs for weight loss and body building. Both are perhaps the most popular options available on the market right now. Beachbody has just recently made another hit by releasing Shakeology, an awesome superfood formula designed to help you lose weight and control cravings while supplying just enough energy and supporting your immune system to keep you healthy. Beachbody is also well-known for the various workout programs; some are aimed at weight loss and some others for body building. On the other hand, Isagenix is apparently more well-known for the diet and weight loss products, especially the IsaLean shake. So, how do Beachbody and Isagenix compare against each other? Let’s find out below.

Beachbody vs Isagenix

The Companies

First of all, let’s take a look at the company overviews of both Beachbody and Isagenix. Beachbody LLC is an American multinational corporation that sells fitness, weight loss, and muscle building home exercise videos using various ways, such as infomercials, e-commerce, multi-level marketing, and individual sales consultants that are called coaches. It was founded in Santa Monica, California, in 1998. Besides for the fitness programs, most notably P90X, Insanity, and Focus T25, Beachbody is also famous for Shakeology, which is a meal replacement that is designed to supplement your healthy diet and usually integrated into the chosen workout program. On the other hand, Isagenix LLC was founded in April 2002 and is now headquartered in Gilbert, Arizona. It sells various dietary supplements and personal care products in multiple countries, including the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Indonesia. However, the majority of its income comes from the United States. Isagenix uses a multi-level marketing model, and is often criticized for the claims that are often considered false and misleading. Some claims are even not supported by science, such as that of the “nutritional cleansing” products.

Apparently, some of the false and misleading claims are due to unqualified associates that participate in the multi-level marketing. However, the company is actually quite serious in developing science. In 2010, the company started funding a research conducted by the biologist William H. Andrews’ company, Sierra Sciences. The research focused on the telomerase activity levels in natural compounds. In 2011, the company released Product B, which is a telomere-supporting nutraceutical made according to the research’s results.

Beachbody’s Products

Beachbody offers various workout programs designed for different purposes and conditions. These workout programs are made by professional trainers. The most notable workout programs are P90X, Insanity, and Focus T25.

Beachbody

P90X is a 90-day home fitness program developed by the trainer Tony Horton, focusing on 12 workouts that involve resistance and body weight training, plyometrics, abdominal works, martial arts, cardio, and yoga. The training focus on “muscle confusion”, a cross training method that swaps the orders of exercises and incorporates varied movements to prevent the body from adapting to the same exercises over time, effectively minimizing plateaus and resulting in continual improvement.

Insanity, on the other hand, is a 60-day workout program focusing on strenuous stamina training. It emphasizes on “max interval training”, which allows only minimal rest time durations in-between the training. This program is meant for those already in good shape but want to improve in stamina and endurance, but not intended for people with cardiovascular, metabolic, and pulmonary diseases; orthopedic limitations; as well as diabetics and obese people.

Meanwhile, Focus T25 is a 25-minute-per-day exercise. It consists of two cycles, Alpha and Beta. In the Alpha cycle, the workouts aim to build the foundation for total body fitness. Meanwhile, the workouts in the Beta cycle focus on core cardio. There are still numerous other workout programs, such as the 21-Day Fix, 21-Day Fix Extreme, and Core De Force.

The most famous supplement from Beachbody is of course Shakeology. It is a shake that incorporates a mix of nutrients, proteins, vitamins, and minerals to support your bodily functions and control your appetite. However, it is not exactly a meal replacement shake – it still needs to be consumed with some meals for a healthy and balanced nutrient intake.

Isagenix’s Products

On the other hand, Isagenix is more about the supplements. The products are aimed at weight loss. Each version of Isagenix Cleans and Fat Flush System is broken into cleanse days and shake days. On both stages, you use a combination of approved snacks and Isagenix products for meals, in addition to the supplements aimed to supply energy and help weight loss.

Isagenix

In the Shake Days, each breakfast and dinner consists of two scoops of the IsaLean shake mixed with 8 oz water. Yes, IsaLean is a meal replacement shake. Lunch, however, should be a non-shake meal. The lunch is recommended to be between 400 to 600 calories. You can take snacks, but the plan has included a list of approved snacks, such as hard-boiled eggs, walnuts, celery sticks, as well as the company’s own products including the SlimCakes (a dietary cookie) and Isadelight Plus (a dark chocolate square with green tea). After a meal or snack, you can take the Natural Accelerator capsule, which is a fat burner, or the Isaflush capsule, a laxative supplement.

In the Cleanse Days, all three daily meals are beverages made with the Cleanse for Life product. The snacks available are celery sticks, an apple, almonds, or the Isagenix snacks. The fat burner and flush pills are still taken alternatingly.

However, such diet plan, which focuses on minimal ingestion, has been criticized due to the health risks, which include coronary heart disease risk and visceral fat loss.

Conclusion

Beachbody and Isagenix are quite two different things. Beachbody focuses on workout programs and a balanced diet to help you achieve your goal, either weight loss or body building. On the other hand, Isagenix is more about weight loss rather than body building – and the methods used are rather extreme. Thus, Beachbody’s products are generally more recommended than Isagenix. There are several proven workout programs that you can choose from, and it has less health risk.
