Weight Loss Hypnosis Review

What is Weight Loss Hypnosis and does it work? As with most habits that people have trouble changing have a corresponding hypnosis, so does overeating. Weight loss hypnosis has been a popular on and off fad for a few decades now. The more desperate people get to lose weight in the West as they consume fatty foods and sugary foods, the more likely they are to give in to weight loss hypnosis.

The idea of weight loss hypnosis is that those with a weak will need to have their minds programmed for them. Hypnotists specialize in programming our minds to function in the manner they think our minds should function.

Weight loss hypnosis is closely rooted in Freudian psychology of the power of subconscious exploration and manipulation. Psychoanalysts and other psychologists of this line believe our subconscious thoughts explain most of our actions. These thoughts are controlled by such things as our relationships with our mother, father, and even food as we were growing up. For example, since many children were brought up in the depression era ideology of, “Don’t leave the table until your plate is clean,” as adults they eat everything in sight at meal time.

Weight loss hypnosis seeks to reprogram your mind to think of food in the manner your hypnotist deems best. The hypnotist will decide how to make you associate your food with negative thoughts instead of positive ones. The idea is to break your subconscious food eating reward mechanisms. But it is pretty well known that hypnosis is no cure for obesity.

Instead weight loss hypnosis ranks up there beside positive affirmations. The fad of positive affirmations that peaked in the 1980s has lost some traction, but it is still practiced by many obese people in an attempt to gain a sense of confident control over food. While hypnotists are much more expensive than affirming yourself, you can also purchase inexpensive CDs that will provide you with lots of positive affirmations.

Hypnosis is based in putting your mind in a state where it can be influenced under the control of suggestion made by another person. Science has shown that in this altered state of consciousness you will accept things into your mind by bypassing your frontal lobe that controls your power to reason and make moral decisions.

The underlying creed of weight loss hypnosis is to

1) influence the mind of the client to change his or her view of food and
2) put other thoughts in the mind in place of food.

So instead of you having to make choices about what thoughts you dwell on, the hypnotist will provide you with a way of perceiving things and which things to think about.

Those who are willing to give control of their minds over to weight loss hypnosis have often reported positive results. But most people want to keep control of their own minds and thoughts. For these people there are weight loss CDs or positive affirmations available for them to use to reprogram their own minds. None of these things will work unless you determine for yourself that you will make exercise and healthy eating habits a regular part of the rest of your life.
